Our custom cookie detail press is the insert used after a cutter has made the outside shape. It can add eyes, wings, windows, petals, clothing lines, panels, lettering or other internal features that help a shaped cookie look recognisable before any icing is added.
This is different from the kitchen appliance also called a cookie press or cookie gun, which pushes soft dough through interchangeable discs. We use “detail press” to describe a made-to-order design tool that is pressed onto the surface of a cut cookie or fondant shape.
The best result usually comes from designing the cutter and press together. We can also review a press for an existing cutter if you provide accurate internal measurements, a tracing and clear straight-on photographs.

Accurate alignment matters more than decorative complexity.
- The cutter outline or a straight-on tracing of the inside edge.

Good to know
Measurements taken only from the outside of an existing cutter may not give enough information for a reliable fit. We will explain if a new matching cutter is the safer option.

Is this the same as a cookie gun?
No. A cookie gun extrudes soft dough through a shaped plate. Our detail press is a separate tool pressed onto a cut cookie or fondant shape to add internal features.
Do I need the matching cutter?
A detail press normally works best with the cutter it was designed around. We may be able to match an existing cutter if you provide sufficiently accurate internal dimensions and references.
Can a press include words as well as lines?
Yes, if there is enough space for the wording to remain legible. For designs centred mainly on a name, message or logo, a cookie stamp or embosser may be the better description and tool.
Will every small feature be included?
Only detail that can translate clearly at the chosen size should be included. We prioritise the features that make the shape recognisable and discuss any simplification with you.
